Who am I?
I am an independent specialist in building and improving the systems behind a business’s online presence.
A new world loaded
Back in 2012, I was an avid gamer until I started playing Minecraft. The game became revolutionary partly because it inspired so many players to begin coding. I became obsessed—not only with playing it, but with running public servers and understanding how everything behind them worked.
Experiment, fail, rebuild
In the earliest days, I was simply desperate to make something that worked. Over the next four years I met people online, wrote increasingly ambitious code and eventually contributed to projects alongside developers with far more experience than me. What began as experimentation became something I mastered.
No shortcuts
I went on to develop an entire server network with several game modes. The network itself was not a revolutionary concept, but my approach was different: I avoided public plugins wherever possible, retaining only official APIs and essential components that genuinely did not need reinventing. The gameplay, data and network systems were written around my own requirements.
The skill that remained
That process made me someone who welcomes a difficult problem. I became too motivated to accept that a solution could not be found, so I learned to research deeply, test ideas and keep going. Problem-solving became the core skill that would support everything I built later.
As mentioned above, I owe the strong passion I have for this work to Minecraft. Spigot was the first API I learned; at the time, I had no idea APIs would become such a major part of my career.
These days I no longer cross paths with either Java or Minecraft, but the problem-solving mindset I gained from them enabled everything that followed.
In 2019, I was given the opportunity to join the ecommerce team of a local toy company. This was my introduction to Shopify and, despite working as an ecommerce manager, I immediately started learning how to develop Shopify themes. It was here that I built my first Shopify store.
The role also introduced me to Amazon marketplace operations, Google Business, search visibility and digital advertising. At the same time, I continued strengthening my HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP development skills.
My problem-solving initiative did not stop with the website. I developed desktop applications to streamline processing operations and bridge gaps between order-management software and ecommerce platforms.
One example was an application that imported Wowcher orders into the company’s order system. This brought me back to Python for the first time since school computer science lessons and marked my transition from building desktop applications in Java to building them in Python.
I officially decided to start KGSITES and quickly found a client who needed ongoing Shopify development. That relationship expanded my work beyond development and introduced me to email marketing through Klaviyo.
Soon afterwards, I began offering translation and localisation services. I developed an AI-assisted process capable of contextually translating entire ecommerce stores at a far more competitive price than traditional approaches, with secondary checks to protect natural phrasing, local relevance and accuracy.
Avoid tedious work, practically.
I am proud of that. Scripts do more than make repetitive work faster—they also reduce the chance of human error.
I use them to migrate data between different formats, bulk-update online information where no suitable admin tool exists, and validate large datasets before changes are applied.
Shopify’s REST API allows my scripts to update catalogue data at scale, including changes that have no practical native bulk-editing support in Shopify Admin.
For example, I can update image alt text across an entire catalogue or process and update blog content without relying on a Shopify CSV import. The result is significantly faster and more consistent than manual editing.
I write scripts that convert information from one source structure into the exact format required by another platform.
CSV files rarely share an identical structure—and sometimes the source is not a CSV at all. A repeatable conversion process preserves accuracy, validates the result and avoids the mistakes introduced by editing hundreds or thousands of records manually.
I like to become closely involved with the businesses I support. I do not charge for routine meetings, and I actively stay in touch, share ideas and look for improvements beyond the immediate task.
For many clients, the relationship feels more like having an experienced member of staff who is there when needed—without adding another permanent role. Where practical, I also enjoy visiting the office and understanding how the business works in person.
I have refined the way I work so clients can access the standard of planning and implementation normally associated with a much larger agency, without funding layers of account management and internal hand-offs.
That keeps pricing proportionate to the work itself. I can work transparently at an hourly rate or provide a defined quotation where the scope is clear.
